CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-018
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO COMPAQ
PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND WAIVING FORMAL BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, The word processing machines and programs used
by the City Clerk's and City Manager's offices are incom-
patible with the program and machines used by the rest of
the city administration; and
WHEREAS, This incompatibility results in significant
operational problems by prohibiting the ready exchanges of
work and documents between city departments; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a personal computer (PC) for
each of these departments would eliminate this incompatibil-
ity and place the City Clerk's and City Manager's officers
on the same word processing standard as the rest of the city
administration; and
WHEREAS, the Compaq brand of personal computers is the
type in general use by the city administration and these
machines are certain to remain compatible with any future
city computer purchases; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Director has researched the
available prices of Compaq personal computers and has found
"Bulldog Computer Products" of Martinez, Georgia to offer
the best available prices; and
WHEREAS, The city's interest in a rapid delivery of
these two Compaq personal computers would best be served by
waiving formal bid procedures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council finds it in the public
interest to waive the formal bid procedures set forth in
Section 10-8 of the Seward Code.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
issue a purchase order to "Bulldog Computer Products" of
Martinez, Georgia for the purchase of one Compaq 286 and one
Compaq 396 personal computer in an amount not to exceed
seven thousand six hundred twenty four dollars ($7,624.00).

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
