CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-020
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, ADOPTING AN OPTIONAL RATE STRUCTURE FOR
THE SMALL GENERAL SERVICE
WHEREAS, Section 22.6 of the Seward City Code requires
that utility service rate and charges be fixed by resolu-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the rate set for Small General Service (less
than 50KW) does not provide for a demand based rate; and
WHEREAS, under certain conditions it may be to the
advantage of both the consumer and the city to charge a
demand rate; and
WHEREAS, as the Large General Service (greater than
50KW) rate is based on a demand rate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Resolution No. 87-048 is hereby amended by
adding the following optional conditions that apply to the
electric power rate for the Small General Service (less than
50KW) class:
1. A Small General Service (less than 50 KW) group
customer may elect to be billed under the demand rate
schedule set for Large General Service (greater than 50
KW). The election to change the billing rate from one
customer group to another may not be made more often
than once every 12 months, with not less than 12 months
elapsing between the billing rate changes. The
customer will bear the cost of replacing an existing
meter with a demand meter if such conversion is
required.
Section 2:

87-048 remains
above.
The flat KWH rate established for Small
(less than 50KW) set by Resolution No.
in effect, except as noted in Section 1
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
