CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-022
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR PATENT FOR
THE REMAINDER OF THE PUBLICLY OWNED TIDELANDS WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the city has either received patent or is in
the process of receiving patent to the majority of the
tidelands within the corporate limits of the city; and
WHEREAS, the city has negotiated a lease for a major
wood products plant which includes a barge dock within the
tidelands; and the city is also actively pursuing the
homeporting of Navy vessels within Resurrection Bay; and
WHEREAS, consolidated ownership at the municipal level
of all publicly owned tidelands within the corporate limits
of the city has positive benefits in pursuing the planned
land uses and economic goals of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city administration is authorized to
apply to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources for
patent of the remaining publicly owned tidelands within the
corporate limits of the city of Seward, (Sections 12, 13,
and 16 Township 1 South, Range 1 West Seward Meridian).
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
