CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-029
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWO WASTE
OIL BURNERS AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, a request for proposals to provide and install
waste oil burner heating systems for the city automotive
shop and the Harbormaster's Building was posted and adver-
tised as required by city bid procedures; and
WHEREAS, only one proposal was received in a timely
manner; and
WHEREAS, this proposal, as submitted by Seward Plumbing
and Heating, was responsive to the RFP; and
WHEREAS, the cost of purchase and installation of the
two systems totals $7,595 for the Harbormaster' s Building
and $7,785 for the city shop, for a total cost of $15,380;
and
WHEREAS, the waste oil burners will not only provide a
large portion of the heating requirement for both buildings
but will also enable the city to dispose of waste oil in an
efficient and cost-effective manner; and
WHEREAS, since the Harbor Department will utilize both
units for disposal of its waste oil, the Harbor Department
will be charged for its unit and one-half the cost of the
city shop's unit; and
WHEREAS, purchase of the units was not included in the
Harbor Department budget for Fiscal Year 1988, but was
advertised with the intention of funding from the Harbor
Fund Reserve Account;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city manager is hereby authorized to
issue a purchase order to Seward Plumbing and Heating in the
amount of $15,380 for the purchase and installation of two
waste oil burner heating systems.
Section 2. The city manager is further authorized to
appropriate the sum of $12,660 from the Harbor Fund Reserve
Account No. 401-000-271 to the FY 1988 Harbor budget.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
