CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-104
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
SAND, SALT AND CALCIUM CHLORIDE FOR WINTER ICE CONTROL
WHEREAS, a request for proposals to provide salt, sand and calcium chloride for winter ice
control was properly advertised; and
WHEREAS, four bidders responded to the RFP; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to award the bid for each of the items listed in the RFP
to the low bidder for that particular item; and
WHEREAS, Van Waters & Rogers, Inc.; METCO, Inc.; and Samira Industries submitted
the low bids for salt, sand and calcium cWoride respectively;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase order to METCO, Inc., to
provide 1200 cubic yards of street sand for an amount not to exceed $10,176.00.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to issue a purchase order to Van Water
& Rogers, Inc., in the amount of$7,912.00 to provide salt.
Section 3. The City Manager is also authorized to issue a purchase order to Samira Industries
in the amount of $4,213 .31 to provide calcium cWoride.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this lIth day
of September, 1995.
