RESOLUTION NO. 88-070
A RESOLUTION
SEWARD, ALASKA,
FOR THE HARBOR
OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A CRANE
DEPARTMENT AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Harbor Department desires to purchase a
crane for its one-ton Ford truck for use at the syncrolift
during its annual inspection; and
WHEREAS, there is an existing daily need for a crane of
this size within the city; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd's of London has scheduled its next
inspection for July 11, 1988; and
WHEREAS, there is insufficient time to publicly adver-
tise, purchase and have on site a crane capable of lifting
the syncrolift for the inspection; and
WHEREAS, the administration has solicited price quotes
from the only two vendors in the State of Alaska carrying
cranes powerful enough to meet the Harbor's needs; and
WHEREAS, an examination of the specifications submitted
by the two suppliers revealed that the extra margin of
safety provided by the more expensive crane precluded any
cost difference in the machinery;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
