CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE
GENERAL FUND FUND BALANCE TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT BUDGET FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING A
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAM FOR THE 1988-89 SCHOOL YEAR
WHEREAS, the community is in need of public athletic
facilities and classroom space for the conduct of recreation
and leisure programs for youth and adults in the after
school and evening hours during the fall and winter months;
and
WHEREAS, in the
Schools Program has
available to the local
past years, the Seward
made such facilities and
citizenry; and
Community
programs
WHEREAS, the Kenai peninsula Borough School District
will contribute $6,411 to the city of Seward for the opera-
tion of a community schools program in Seward, Alaska, for
the 1988-89 school year; and
WHEREAS, the community will benefit from varied pro-
grams in recreation, physical activities, leisure activities
and adult education offerings that would be provided through
a community schools program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A grant in the amount of $6,411 from the
Kenai Peninsula Borough for the Community Schools Program is
hereby accepted and appropriated to the FY 1989 Parks and
Recreation Department Budget.
Section 2. The sum of $11,100 is hereby appropriated
from the General Fund Fund Balance Account No. 101-000-273-
00-00 to the FY 1989 Parks and Recreation Department operat-
ing budget for the purpose of hiring a part-time coordinator
and to develop, operate and supervise a community schools
program from September 1988 through May 1989.
Section 3.

This resolution shall take effect July 1,
