CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-079
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A LEASE
WITHIN THE SEWARD LAGOON PARK FOR A SALMON RESEARCH
AND MANAGEMENT FACILITY TO THE ALASKA DEPARTMENT
OF FISH AND GAME
WHEREAS, the Alaska Department
has, for the last ten (10) years,
site within the Seward Lagoon Park
and research building; and
of Fish and Game (ADF&G)
leased from the city a
for a salmon management
WHEREAS, ADF&G wishes to continue the use of the site
for salmon management and research; and
WHEREAS, the city has found no conflicts with the past
and planned use of the site and has no plans for any other
public use of the site; and
WHEREAS, the continuation of a strong silver salmon run
within Resurrection Bay is important to the economy of
Seward;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The city manager is authorized to execute a
new lease with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for
the use of a :!:1,973 square foot site within the Seward
Lagoon Park (Block 1, Oceanview Subdivision) for a salmon
management and research facility, A copy of the lease is
attached and incorporated herein by reference.
Section 2. In accordance with Section 2-85 of the City
Code, the Council finds that the public interest would not
be served by an appraisal of the subject property.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect thirty
(30) days following approval and posting as required by law.
