CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-087
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING ADDITIONAL EXPENDITURES
TO COMPLETE INSTALLATION OF HOT WATER HEATERS
AT THE SPRING CREEK CORRECTIONAL CENTER
WHEREAS, on May 9, 1988, the City Council approved
Resolution No. 88-085, appropriating funds for and authoriz-
ing purchase orders to purchase and install additional hot
water heaters at the Spring Creek Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, purchase orders were issued to Seward Plumbing
and Heating to install the boilers on a time and materials
basis; and
WHEREAS, to cost for installation of the first boiler
will exceed the $5,000 limit which may be approved by the
city manager; and
WHEREAS, installation of boilers in House No. 2 and
House No. 4 will also exceed the $5,000 limit which may be
approved by the city manager; and
WHEREAS, it is critical that these boilers be installed
as soon as possible so as to impact operation of the prison
as little as possible;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to waive full
utilization of city bid procedures for the installation of
hot water boilers in the Spring Creek Correctional Center.
Section 2. The city manager is hereby authorized to
increase Purchase Order No. 6445 from $5,000 to $8,000.
Section 3. The city manager is further authorized to
issue two additional purchase orders to Seward Plumbing &
Heating for installation of hot water boilers in House No. 2
and House No.4 in the amount of $17,350 and $18,600 respec-
tively.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect inunedi-
ately upon its adoption.
