CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-088
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A PURCHASE ORDER
FOR PLUMBING WORK AT THE SPRING CREEK CORRECTIONAL
CENTER WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, several purchase orders have been issued to
local businesses to complete work essential for the start-up
and operation of the prison; and
WHEREAS, this work would normally have been accom-
plished by the general contractor by change order or direc-
ti ve; however, the general contractor is not manned to do
the work and his cost would be at least double that of local
contractors; and
WHEREAS, the cost of following the bid procedures set
forth in Section 10-8 of the City Code would outweigh the
benefit of sole-sourcing the work to local businesses and
contractors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section I. The city manager is hereby authorized to
increase Purchase Order No. 6446 to Seward Plumbing &
Heating from $5,000 to $7,000 without full utilization of
city bid procedures.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
