CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 88-092
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, DESIGNATING BEACH ACCESS AND
CAMPING AREAS IN THE FOURTH OF JULY CREEK AREA
WHEREAS, the beach in the vicinity of the Spring Creek
outfall is a favorite fishing area; and
WHEREAS, the former camping area in the Chugach Timber
Products lease site has been closed due to construction; and
WHEREAS, the city's patents for the Seward Marine
Industrial Center area require that public beach access be
maintained; and
WHEREAS, certain access can be maintained without
interfering with industrial and construction activities at
SMIC;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The beach area below the SMIC embankment in
the vicinity of the mouth of Spring Creek is designated as a
fee camping area.
Section 2. Other beach access routes shall be posted
and designated for day use only, with no overnight camping.
Section 3. All area south of Spring Creek in the SMIC,
including but not limited to the North Dock construction
area, cargo dock, Syncrolift, breakwater and rails, is
restricted from public access, and fishing is prohibited
from all SMIC facilities.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
