Sponsored by: Royle CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 88-102 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH INLET FISHERIES, INC. WHEREAS, the city of Seward has determined that the development of the Seward Marine Industrial Center in Seward is in the public interest; and WHEREAS, the city has encouraged the development of industrial uses of the Seward Marine Industrial Center and has actively sought proposals for such development; and WHEREAS, Inlet Fisheries, Inc., has proposed the construction of private fish processing facilities at the Seward Marine Industrial Center; and WHEREAS, the construction of such facilities will mean additional investment in the city of Seward and employment opportunities for citizens of Seward; and WHEREAS, it is the intent of this Lease to alleviate from the city the entire burden of compliance with present or future environmental regulations or controls with respect to LESSEE's operations on or adj acent to the Leased Land during the lease term; and WHEREAS, Inlet Fisheries, Inc., has agreed to construct a public dock facility at the Seward Marine Industrial Center at no cost to the city of Seward in exchange for the rights to lease certain upland parcels and thereon to construct fish processing facilities; and WHEREAS, private fish opportunities the construction of the public processing facilities will provide for the citizens of Seward; and dock and employment WHEREAS, an appraisal of the leased land would not be appropriate; and WHEREAS, the city and Inlet Fisheries, Inc., have concluded negotiation of a lease agreement, a copy of which is attached and incorporated herein as a part of this Resolution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: -1- . . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 88-102 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute that certain Lease Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto, between the city of Seward and Inlet Fisheries, Inc. Section 2. The City Council finds that an appraisal of the leased property would not be in the public interest. Section 3. The City Council further finds that exe- cution of the attached Lease Agreement is in the public interest. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect thirty (30) days following passage and posting as required by law.
