Sponsored by: Schaefermeyer CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 88-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR PAVING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS WHEREAS, the city administration solicited certain paving within the city in accordance provisions of Section 10-8 of the City Code; and for the bids with WHEREAS, Wilder Construction, Inc., submitted the only bid received by the city; and WHEREAS, the Wilder Construction, Inc., bid was contin- gent upon its success in receiving the paving contract for the Chugach Forest Products paving; and WHEREAS, Wilder Construction, Inc., was not successful in receiving the Chugach paving contract; and WHEREAS, on August 22, 1988, the City Council declared the bid submitted by Wilder Construction, Inc., to be non-responsive and instructed the administration to negoti- ate a paving contract with the paving contractor working with Chugach Forest Products, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Ras co, Inc., was awarded the Chugach paving contract, and the city administration has negotiated a contract with Rasco, Inc., to perform certain city paving; and WHEREAS, included in the scope of work are certain designated areas within the Small Boat Harbor which are in need of paving; and WHEREAS, funding for the Harbor paving must be appro- priated from the Harbor Reserve Fund; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. It is in the public interest to award a contract for certain city paving projects without full utilization of city bid procedures as outlined in Section 10-8 of the City Code. Section 2. The city manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Rasco, Inc., in an amount NTE -1- . . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 88-111 $56,587.50, to complete certain designated paving proj ects within the city of Seward. (A copy of the contract is attached and incorporated herein by reference.) Section 3. The city manager is further authorized to establish a project account in the amount of $62,237.50, to include a change order reserve of $5,650.00. Section 4. The sum of $15,000.00 is hereby appropri- ated from the Harbor Fund-Fund Balance Account No. 401-000- 271-00-00 to the Harbor SMIC Operations Account No. 401-411- 561-30-39, and the respective budgets are amended according- ly. Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immedi- ately upon its adoption.
