CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO.88-135
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A DISPATCH
CONTROL CONSOLE AND RELATED RADIO AND CCTV EQUIPMENT FOR THE
SEWARD POLICE DEPARTMENT WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID
PROCEDURES
WHEREAS, the FY 1989 Capital projects Plan includes the
renovation of the Police Department dispatch center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized the City Manager
to solicit bids for the dispatch center renovation project; and
WHEREAS, the state of Alaska has bid and procured a
contract with Motorola Corporation for the installation of
consoles and other radio equipment, and the city under state
law is authorized to join in this contract; and
WHEREAS, the state contract would save
approximately $30,000 over the city independently
equipment: and

bidding the
WHEREAS, the city of Seward provides dispatch services not
only to city agencies but to state and federal agencies; and
WHEREAS, most governmental agencies are utilizing Motorola
radio equipment and it is in the public interest that Seward's
dispatch facilities be compatible with this radio equipment;
and
WHEREAS, the Motorola console, radio and CCTV equipment
can be provided under the state contract at a lesser cost to
the city while providing the type of equipment required for the
city's needs, and
WHEREAS, funding for the dispatch renovation project will
be received from lease/purchase financing;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the public interest to waive
competitive bidding requirements for the purchase of a dispatch
control console, radio and CCTV equipment for the Seward Police
Department.

section 2. The City Manager is authorized to purchase a
Centracom Series II control console base station, mobile and
portable radios and CCTV equipment from Motorola corporation
for a price not to exceed $109,821. 04 with funds to become
available for this purpose through lease/purchase financing.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately
upon its adoption.
