RESOLUTION NO. 89-005
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, REQUESTING AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF
POTENTIAL LANDFILL SITES BY THE KENAI
PENINSULA BOROUGH
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has begun the
process of evaluating potential sites for a new landfill in
the Seward area; and
vlHEREAS, landfill siting is of concern to all area
residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is urged to
complete an in-depth study of all potential landfill site
options prior to making a final site selection, such options
to include, but not be limited to:
1. Upgrading of the existing facility;
2. Study of alternative methods of waste disposal
other than the" creation of another landfill; and
3. Study of nonresidential sites which will not
affect existing residential or recreational facilities.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
