CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-012
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, CONFIRHING THE COUNCIL'S EARLIER
AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE A 750 KVA TRANSFORMER
WHEREAS, Seward Marine Services is expanding and
upgrading its existing local facilities; and
WHEREAS, this expansion will require the installation
of a new 750 KVA transformer at the site; and
WHEREAS, SMS is under certain time constraints for
construction in order to complete the work prior to the
upcoming fishing season; and
WHEREAS, the city has received price quotes from three
suppliers of the trRnsformers; and
WHEREAS, Potelcom's quote was the second lowest quote,
but indicated that the transformer could be delivered in two
weeks as opposed to the 20-week delivery time projected by
the low quote; and
WHEREAS, SMS will reimburse the city for the cost of
the transformer; and
WHEREAS, on January 23, 1989, the City Council approved
purchase of the transformer by motion of the Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Code provides that exceptions to the
bid procedures of the Code be approved by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The January 23, 1989, vote on a motion to
approve the purchase of a 750 KVA transformer from Potelcom
is hereby confirmed.
Section 2. The City Council finds thRt the public
interest would be served by waiving city bid procedures for
the purchase of said transformer.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
