RESOLUTION NO. 89-021
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A SINGLE
SIDE BAND RADIO FOR THE HARBOR DEPARTMENT WITHOUT
FULL UTILIZATION OF CITY BID PROCEDURES

WHEREAS, in order to

of the North Dock will require the purchase and installation
of a long range radio system in the Police Department; and
WHEREAS, purchase of a single side band radio would
give the Police Department the flexibility to talk with
aircraft, vessels or communities located as much as three
thousand (3,000) miles awaY; and
WHEREAS, cost savings would be realized by the purchase
of the radio prior to the completion of the proposed new
Police Dispatch Communications Center by installing the
radio during construction of the Center; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to purchase the radio from
Motorola since Motorola is the manufacturer of the City's
new communications equipment; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Harbor Reserve
Account for the purchase of the radio;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by
purchasing a single side band radio without full utilization
of city bid procedures.
Section 2. The city manager is hereby authorized to
issue a purchase order to Motorola in an amount not to
exceed Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and Nineteen Dollars
($7,519.00) for the purchase of a single side band radio.
Section 3. The sum of Seven Thousand, Five Hundred and
Nineteen Dollars ($7,519.00) is hereby appropriated from the
Harbor Reserve Account to the Harbor Enterprise Fund for the
purchase of said radio, and the budgets are amended accord-
ingly.

Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immedi-
ately upon its adoption.
