Sponsored by: Royle CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 89-027 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, OPENING PUBLIC CAMPGROUNDS TO YOUTH AND SCHOOL GROUPS PRIOR TO THE OFFICIAL OPENING DATE WHEREAS, the city of Seward is becoming throughout the state as an attractive vacation site educational field trips by the schools and youth state; and more noticed and a site for groups in the WHEREAS, the public camping areas are a valuable asset to the city and under the jurisdiction of the city of Seward; and WHEREAS, requests are being made to allow for camping in public areas by youth groups and school groups prior to the May 15 opening date established by Ordinance 601, Section 7.15.010(B) of the City Code; and WHEREAS, supervised groups wishing to visit the community for educational purposes do not pose an apparent threat to community health, safety and sanitation; and WHEREAS, such groups do not have access to funding for self- contained RV units to enable camping in the city winter camping area; and WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to make available the educational resources located within and around the community for the youth of the state; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. The Parks and Recreation Director is hereby authorized to open public campgrounds within the city for use by youth and school groups prior to the May 15, 1989, official opening date. Section 2.
