CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 85-84
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A GRANT TO GATEWAY
CHILDREN'S CENTER
WHEREAS, the 1985 Legislature appropriated grant no. 3/86-302
in the amount of $50,000 for the purpose of constructing a licensed day
care facility; and
WHEREAS, Gateway Children's Center (hereafter referred to as
"GATEWAY") was formed by residents of the community for the purpose of
operating a licensed day care facility in Seward; and
WHEREAS, GATEWAY has requested the City of Seward to grant the
State funds to GATEWAY for the purpose of constructing a new day care
facility; and
WHEREAS, GATEWAY, as a condition of recelvlng these grant
funds, agrees to return to the City any unexpended grant funds which
remain after the construction is complete; and
WHEREAS, GATEWAY agrees to operate and maintain the facility
for its practical life and further agrees that it will not look to the
City to operate or maintain the facility or pay for its operation or
maintenance; and
WHEREAS, GATEWAY agrees to abide by all other conditions
contained in the grant agreement;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter
into a grant agreement for the amount of $50,000 with GATEWAY for the
purpose of constructing a licensed day care facility in Seward.
