CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 85-97
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, NAMING CERTAIN PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE CITY LIMITS
WHEREAS, the City is in the process of finalizing a community
address system in order to better facilitate community growth; and
WHEREAS, during the development of addresses, additional
rights of way have been identified which either have not been previously
named through any recorded action, or have names that do not lend
themselves to clearly identifying their location; and
WHEREAS, many of the residents of these streets have been
contacted as to their preference for a street name; and
WHEREAS, these residents concur with the City's recommenda-
tions concerning the designations for these streets; and
WHEREAS, the Kenai Peninsula Borough has established a bor-
ough-wide street naming system and base map which requires local govern-
ment action for the naming of streets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public right of way beginning at the inter-
section of Jefferson Street and First Avenue and running west between
the Marathon Addition and Lowell Estates Subdivision and Lowell Canyon
Townhouse Subdivision, shall be called LOWELL CANYON ROAD.
Section 2. That isolated, unconstructed portion of First
Avenue right of way within the Bayview Addition between Aialik and
Barwell Streets is henceforth named BAYVIEW PLACE.
Section 3. That right-of-way platted as Phoenix Loop within
the Gateway Subdivision shall be renamed RUSH LOOP.
Section 4. That portion of the right-of-way platted as
Phoenix Road within the Gateway Subdivision that loops back upon itself
shall be renamed OLYMPIA ROAD.
Section 5. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
