RESOLUTION NO. 85-99
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO AFOGNAK LOGGING, INC.,
FOR REPAIRS TO THE FOURTH AVENUE DOCK WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Seward received $147,500 from the State
of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities in Septem-
ber 1985 for repairs to the Fourth Avenue Dock; and
WHEREAS, full utilization of the bid procedures set forth in
Section 10-8 of the City Code would not allow completion of repairs this
season; and
WHEREAS, the repairs were specified and contractors capable or
performing the work were notified that the City was accepting bids on
the proposed repairs; and
WHEREAS, two firms responded to the informal request for
proposals; and
WHEREAS, Afognak Logging, Inc., was the only one of the two
bidders to respond to all bid items;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by
wa~v1ng full utilization of the bid procedures set forth in Section 10-8
of the City Code.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to award a contract
to Afognak Logging, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $96,168.00, for
repairs to the Fourth Avenue Dock.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
