RESOLUTION NO. 8s-l04
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, DEDICATING AND NAMING A SENIOR/
COMMUNITY CENTER FUND IN HONOR OF ANNETT A GILLESPIE
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the contribution of all
Seward Area Senior Citizens to the vitality of our Community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council supports meeting the community based
needs of all the area's Senior Citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has moved toward fulfilling some of
those needs by directing the conceptual design of a Senior/Community
Center and by designating City property for development of those same
facilities; and
WHEREAS, local financial support to the Senior/Community
Center can be a vital element to winning State funding for the project;
and
WHEREAS, further financial and community support to the
facility would be derived from establishing an endowment fund in the
name of an individual who exemplifies the long standing community
dedication shown by many of our Seniors; and
WHEREAS, the City Council seeks to recognize the special
dedication to improving the quality of community life in Seward shown
through years of tireless volunteer effort to nearly every community
group and to every aspect of humanitarian service; and
WHEREAS, advocacy for the Senior/Community Center has, for
several years, been foremost among her many community service goals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. An endowment and development fund be established
in support of the Seward Senior/ Community Center and be known and
dedicated as the Annetta Gillespie Endowment Fund.

Section 2. Be it further resolved that a board of trustees
fund be established to include representatives of the Senior
Seward City Council, Interagency Council, Kenai Peninsula
Assembly and the Eastern Kenai Peninsula at-large.
Section 3. Be it further resolved
encourages and supports all community volunteer
for the Senior/Community Center, and while
that the City Council
efforts to raise funds

recognition of the outstanding contributions of other Senior Citizens of
our area.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
