RESOLurION NO. 85-109
A RESOLUTICN OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A VEHICLE FOR
LEASE TO DOT /PF WITHOUT EULL UTILIZATICN OF THE BID
PROCEDURES SEI' FORTH IN SECI'lON 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the Project Managerrent group for construction of the
Spring Creek Correctional Facility requires a vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Departnent of Transportation and Public
Facilities (DOT IPF) has requested that the vehicle be purchased and
armed by the City of Seward and leased by oor /PF for the duration of the
project; and
WHEREAS, following COITpletion of the project the vehicle would
return to the City; and
WHEREAS, requiring oor /PF to purchase the vehicle would result
in a delay in the delivery date of the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, proposals were requested by oor/PF from najor U. S.
autorrobile dealers in Anchorage, Soldotna and Seward for an appropriate
4x4 vehicle in1rrediately available off the lot; and
WHEREAS, five dealers resp:mded to the request for proposals;
and
WHEREAS, strict adherence to the bid procedures set forth in
Section lO-8 of the Seward City Code would be costly and would result in
a delay in the delivery date of the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, funds for the purchase of the vehicle are available
in the Spring Creek Correctional Center budget;
Nrn, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section l. The public interest would best be served by
waiving the bid procedures set forth in Section 10-8 of the City Code
for the purchase of a vehicle to be leased to the Alaska Departrrent of
Transportation and Public Facilities.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a
purchase order in an anount not to exceed $11,620.00 to Hutchinson
Chevrolet for the purchase of an SIO Blazer to be leased to DOT/PF
during construction of the Spring Creek Correctional Facility.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect in1rrediately upon
its adoption.
