CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOI1J1'ION NO. 85-112
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, m SUPPORT' OF CAINES HEAD STATE PARK
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska , Division of Parks and Outdoor
Recreation, has created Caines Head State Recreation Area; and
WHEREAS, Caines Head State Recreation Area is located six (6)
miles south from the City of Seward in Resurrection Bay; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation Area provides exceptional recreational
opportunities and contains inportant historical, natural and wilderness
values available to the many visitors and users to Resurrection Bay
annually; and
WHEREAS, the tourism industry, particularly those operating in
and about Resurrection Bay, generate revenues beneficial to the local
businesses and residents of Seward; and
'-vHEREAS, the Seward Conprehensive Plan Objective No. 29
encourages the collaboration with the Alaska Division of Parks and
Outdoor Recreation in implementing a long-range developrrent and access
plan for Caines Head State Recreation Area;
Na-J, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City of Seward supports and encourages the
developrrent of Caines Head Recreation Area for the following reasons:
I. The local eoonomy will be stimulated by
visitors desiring to visit the Recreation Area through the
transportation and support services; and

Section 2. Copies of this resolution shall be forwarded to
Senators Kerttula and DeVries and Representative Cato.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect irnrrediately upon
