CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-069
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, COMMENDING MARGARET "JACKIE" DECK
FOR TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE UPON
HER RETIREMENT FROM THE SEWARD COMMUNITY LIBRARY
WHEREAS, Margaret "Jackie" Deck has held the position of Head
Librarian of the Seward Community Library since 1962; and
WHEREAS, she was the library's first paid employee; and
WHEREAS, she was responsible for the initiation of many
programs beneficial to the community, including reading programs
for the young, a children's story hour, Friday night movies, and
art and photo shows; and
WHEREAS, she provided a temporary home for the Kenai Peninsula
Community College and a public television translator station; and
WHEREAS, under her direction, a library outreach program has
been extended to Spring Creek Correctional Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. Margaret "Jackie" Deck is hereby commended and
congratulated upon the occasion of her retirement for twenty-seven
years of outstanding service to the community of Seward.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward,
Alaska, this 26th day of June, 1989.
