CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 89-073
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, ACCEPTING A PROPOSAL FOR A MARQUEE
SIGN AND EXTERNAL DETAIL FOR THE SENIOR/COMMUNITY CENTER
AND MUSEUM AS APPROPRIATE FOR ART IN PUBLIC PLACES AND
AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION TO
THEDA J. CAGLE
WHEREAS, a request for proposals to design a sign for the new
Senior/Community Center and Museum was publicly advertised and
Theda J. Cagle submitted the only proposal; and
WHEREAS, Theda J. Cagle is a recognized local Seward artist
who has accomplished a number of decorative works in Seward and
Anchorage; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Statute 35.27.020 requires that one percent
of the cost of a public building be spent for Art in Public Places;
and
WHEREAS, a committee representing the Senior Citizens, Inc.,
and the Seward Historical Society reviewed the proposal and found
it to be acceptable as Art in Public places and as a decorative
building sign;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Senior/Community Center - Museum for a cost not to exceed Five
Thousand Four Hundred Dollars. ($5,400.00).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, this 10th day of July, 1989.
