CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 82-67
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
A POLICE VEHICLE WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF
THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8
OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE.
WHEREAS, the City of Seward police Department is in
need of an additional patrol vehicle, and
WHEREAS, the City Police Chief has solicited price
quotations for a vehicle listing in the solicitation the
particular requirements of the City of Seward police Department,
and
WHEREAS, such solicitations were sent to automobile
dealers in the Anchorage and Kenai peninsula areas, and
WHEREAS, all of the potent ial bidders from whom bids
were requested are substantial automobile dealers with excellent
credit ratings and proven abilities to supply vehicles which have
been contracted for purchase, and
WHEREAS, the cost of formal bid solicitation and the
drafting of formal bid documents would be prohibitive, and
WHEREAS, a requirement of a bidder's bond or cash
certificate would be superfluous, and
WHEREAS, a contract for purchase would be
prepare and there are standard form contracts
manufacturers for purchase of vehicles, and
expensive to
prepared by
WHEREAS, the purchase is a budgeted item within the
budget of the police Department,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SEWARD, that:
Section 1. That the requirements of Section 10-8 of
the seward Ci ty Code would be burdensome to comply wi th by the
City and it would be in the public interest to accept the lowest
bid received based upon the price quotation solicitations used.
Section 2. That the price quotation of Hutchings
Chevrolet of Soldotna, Alaska, is the apparent low bidder at Nine
Thousand Twenty-Eight and 66/100 ($9,028.66).
Section 3. That the City Manager of the City of Seward
is authorized to purchase in accordance with the specifications

set forth in the letter dated september 13, 1982, to the City
Council from the Chief of Police a Chevrolet Impala at a price
not to exceed Nine Thousand Twenty-Eight and 66/100 ($9,028.66).
