CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-132
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR
COMMUNITY CENTER RENOVATIONS TO
ACCOMMODATE THE YOUTH CENTER
WHEREAS, the Community Center is scheduled to be remodeled to accommodate the new
Youth Center and existing Senior activities in addition to the Museum operation; and
WHEREAS, because of the short time frame for completing the project in order to allow the
Youth Center to occupy the building by Christmas 1995, it is in the public interest to waive the
requirements for a public bid as provided in Seward City Code ~ 6.1 0.130; and
WHEREAS, the City requested quotes from three local contractors to perform the desired
work; and
WHEREAS, only one contractor submitted a bid for the project; and
WHEREAS, the one bid submitted is responsive and the contractor is a responsible bidder;
and
WHEREAS, funds are available to accomplish this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Seward City Code ~ 6.1 0.130, formal bidding procedures for
the remodel of the Community Center are hereby waived.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Swenson
Construction Company in the amount of$28,500 to remodel the Community Center to accommodate
the Youth Center activities.
Section 3. A contingency account in the amount of $2,850 is hereby established for a total
project budget of $31 ,350.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 6th day
of November, 1995.
