CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 8J 1l
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
ALASKA, AUTHORIZING A REQUEST TO ASSUME THE RESPONSIBILITY
FOR THE SEWARD MARINE INDUSTRIAL PARK RAIL CORRIDOR ASSESSMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Seward is rapidly developing the Fourth of
July Creek area into a major industrial center for the State of Alaska;
and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska wi 11 be looking to Seward as the
export location for coal, minerals and other bulk commodity resources from
Interior Alaska; and
WHEREAS, rail access is integral to the overall development of
the Seward Marine Industrial Park as a major industrial site; and
WHEREAS, the City of Seward wishes to assume local control of
the Seward Marine Industrial Park Rail Corridor Assessment project under
the provisions of AS 35.l5.080.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Seward, Alaska, that:
Section 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply
to the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities ( here-
inafter referred to as the "Department") on behalf of the City of Seward
for Eighty Five thousand Dollars ($85,000.00) which was appropriated to
the Department in Chapter 25 SLA 82, Page 20, Line 6 for the Seward Marine
Industrial Park Rail Corridor Assessment.
Section 2. The City Manager is further authorized to act on
behalf of the City of Seward to enter into an Agreement with the Department
to transfer the responsibility for the accomplishment of the project from
the Department to the City of Seward.
Section 3. The City Manager is also authorized to execute any
subsequent amendments to said Agreement based on the needs of the project.
Section 4.
