RESOLUTION NO. 84-120
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES
SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has solicited price quotes from
major suppliers for the purchase of needed equipment and supplies; and
WHEREAS, these items were not advertised for formal public bid
because of the wide range of product quality associated with some of the
items; and
WHEREAS, to insure uniformity within the Department, it was
necessary, in some instances, to specify certain brands of equipment;
and
WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has reviewed all price quotes received
and has recommended that the purchase of the needed equipment and
materials be split between five respondents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by the
solicitation of price quotes for the purchase of certain Fire Department
equipment and supplies rather than strict adherence to the bid proce-
dures set forth in Section 10-8 of the City Code.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to issue purchase
orders to the following firms in amount not to exceed those listed for
the purchase of said equipment:
Fire Control Northwest
Becker
L. N. Curtis
Motorola
Signals Engineering

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
