CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. R4-122
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ELECTRICAL
CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF THE BID
PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the Seward Electrical Utility has one scheduled and
one tentatively scheduled subdivision underground distribution system to
build this year; and
WHEREAS, it is imperative that the underground systems be
completed before the ground freezes; and
WHEREAS, the materials for construction of the underground
systems are not stocked by the Utility; and
WHEREAS, the Electric Utility obtained price quotes from each
of the limited number of suppliers of electrical construction materials
in Alaska; and
WHEREAS, an effort has been made to split the purchases among
the dealers to buy materials in stock at the lowest possible price; and
WHEREAS, the cost of formally advertising these materials in
time for public bid would be detrimental to the early completion of the
project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by
obtaining informal price quotes for electrical construction materials
for underground distribution systems for the Meridian and Woodland Hills
Subdivision without full utilization of the bid procedures set forth in
Section 10-8 of the Seward City Code.
Section 2. The Administration is authorized to issue purchase
orders to the following suppliers, not to exceed the stated amounts, for
the purchase of electrical construction materials:
Anixter ........... $15,958.00
Western States .... $18,015.00
Debenham Electric
Supply Co. ...... $12,766.18
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
