CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-137
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROVING A CONTRACT WITH
THE U. S. IMMIGRATION AND NATURALIZATION SERVICE
TO PROVIDE JAIL SPACE FOR FEDERAL PRISONERS
ARRESTED IN THE SEWARD AREA FOR VIOLATIONS OF
IMMIGRATION LAWS
WHEREAS, the City of Seward maintains a contractual relationship with the U. S.
Immigration and Naturalization Service; and
WHEREAS, under the terms of this agreement, foreign nationals arrested in the Seward area
for violations of federal immigration laws are housed in the Seward Community Jail; and
WHEREAS, as specified in the agreement; the Immigration and Naturalization Service
compensates the City for the time these federal prisoners are housed in the Seward Community Jail;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. A contract between the City of Seward and the U. S. Immigration and
Naturalization Service to provide for the detention and maintenance of INS apprehended aliens for
the period October 1, 1995, through September 30,1996, is hereby APPROVED.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of November, 1995.
