RESOLUTION NO. 84-133
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO UNDERWATER
CONSTRUCTION FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION
OF PILINGS IN THE SMALL BOAT HARBOR WITHOUT FULL
UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN
SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the harbor is in need of other maintenance including
the installation of pilings (both at the construction site and elsewhere
within the harbor); and
WHEREAS, several pile drivers are currently on location in the
Seward area; and
WHEREAS, contracting with a company located locally would
result in a cost savings to the City since mobilization costs would be
minimal; and
WHEREAS, the Harbor Department solicited price quotes for the
purchase and installation of piles from all local contractors engaged in
this type of work;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by not
fully utilizing the bid procedure set forth in Section 10-8 of the City
Code for purchase and installation of pilings in the Small Boat Harbor.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a
contract to Underwater Construction of pilings in the Small Boat Harbor.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
