CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 85-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION RELATIVE TO THE SITING, CONCEPT, AND FUTURE FUNDING OF THE PROPOSED SENIOR/COMMUNITY CENTER WHEREAS, the Senior/Community Center Advisory Board has asked the City Council to approve Tracts 5 and 6, Waterfront Tracts, as the site of the proposed Senior/Community Center; and WHEREAS, at the regular election of October 2, 1984, the voters of the City of Seward approved a proposition placing Tracts 5 and 6, Waterfront Tracts, into the area designated as the Seward Greenbelt; and WHEREAS, the Council has determined that another vote of the people would be advisable before the proposed development can take place on the site; and WHEREAS, the Council has asked that the voters also be given the opportunity to approve the concept of the proposed Center; and WHEREAS, construction of the Center may depend on partial funding by the City through the issuance of General Obligation Bonds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that: Section 1. A special election shall be held on February 5, 1985, in the City of Seward, Alaska, for the purpose of submitting the following propositions to the qualified voters of the City of Seward for approval or rejection. A majority of qualified voters voting in favor of each proposition is required for approval. PROPOSITION NO. 1 Shall the proposed Senior/Community Center be constructed on Tracts 5 & 6, Waterfront tracts, Seward, Alaska? PROPOSITION NO. 2 Do you approve the concept of a Community Center which would contain a Senior Center, a Day Care facility and community meeting areas? -1- . . . . . CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA RESOLUTION NO. 85-12 PROPOSITION NO. 3 Would you be willing to fund a portion of the cost of construction of the Community Center through the issuance of General Obligation Bonds of the City? Section 2. The foregoing propositions shall be printed on a ballot which may set forth other propositions, and the propositions set forth in Section 1 shall be printed in full and the following words shall be added as appropriate and next to a space provided for marking the ballot: PROPOSITION NO. (Insert appropriate number) YES NO Section 3. A person may vote at this election who possesses the qualifications set forth in AS 15.05.010 and who is registered to vote pursuant to Chapter 7 of Title 15 of the Alaska Statutes (AS 15.07.010, et. seq.). The election shall be conducted in compliance with the procedures established in Chapter 8 of the Seward City Code. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. Copies of this resolution shall be posted in at least three public places for at least 15 days prior to the election.
