CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-6
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL
FUND-FUND BALANCE TO THE LOWELL CREEK STORM SEWER ACCOUNT
AND APPROVING A CHANGE ORDER TO SWALLING CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, a contract has been awarded to Swalling Construction
for the purpose of constructing repairs to the Lowell Canyon Diversion
Tunnel; and
WHEREAS, following commencement of construction City engineers
were able to investigate the condition of the tunnel with no water and
improved lights, which inspection revealed several changed conditions
which were not known before the dry inspection of the tunnel; and
WHEREAS, CH M Hill Engineers and Acres/Hanscomb, J. V., have
analyzed these changea conditions and have presented their recommenda-
tions for additional repair work in the tunnel to the City; and
WHEREAS, there are not sufficient funds in the grant for this
proj ect to undertake the additional repairs recommended by the City's
engineers; and
WHEREAS, the additional repairs are necessary to insure a
permanent, long lasting rehabilitation of the tunnel and savings can be
realized by the City in having the additional work performed by Swalling
Construction; and
WHEREAS, sufficient funds are available in the fund balance of
the General Fund to pay for the additional repairs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $412,000.00 is appropriated
from the General Fund-Fund Balance Account No. 101-000-271-00-00 to the
Lowell Creek Storm Sewer Repair Account No. 271-000-368-04-00.
Section 2. A contract change order
in an amount not to exceed $350.000.00
bringing the total approved contract amount to
to Swalling Construction
is hereby approved
$1,819,516.00
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
