A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF /~
SEWARD, ALASKA, SUGGESTING WORDING CHANGES TO THE
BALLOT PROPOSITIONS RELATIVE TO THE COMMUNITY CENTtR
SPECIAL ELECTION /

WHEREAS, members of Seward Senior Citizens, Inc., have de-
termined that the wording of the ballot propositioIj.ti relative to the
siting, concept and funding for the proposed CommuJfity Center is mis-
leading; and
WHEREAS, the Senior Citizens representatives have suggested
new wording for the propositions; and
WHEREAS, changing the wording on the ballots would require
further noticing and printing of new ballots; and

WHEREAS, notice requirements wiuld mandate that the election
date be changed to February 19, 1985; /
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The special election scheduled for February 5,
1985, shall be held on February 19, 1985, in the City of Seward, Alaska,
for the purpose of submitting the following revised propositions to the
qualified voters of the City of Seward for approval or rejection. A
majority of qualified voters voting in favor of each proposition is
required for approval:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
Do you mpprove of constructing a Community
Center Buil~ing on Waterfront Tracts 5 & 6, Seward?
(Elevation /bf building above sea level will be 20
feet)? /

PROPOSITION NO. 2
you approve the concept of a community
buil ing which would contain a Senior Center and
unity meeting areas with a Day Care facility to
uilt as Phase II?
PROPOSITION NO. 3
Would you be willing to fund a minor percentage
of the cost of construction of the Community Center

through the issuance of general obligation bonds of
the City of Seward?
Section 2. The foregoing propositions shall be printed on a
ballot which may set forth other propositions and the propositions set
forth in Section 1 shall be printed in full and the following words
shall be added as appropriate and next to a space provided for marking
the ballot:

Section 3. A person may vote at this election who possesses
the qualifications set forth in AS 15.05.020 and who is registered to
vote pursuant to Chapter 7 of Title 15 of the Alaska Statutes (AS
15.07.010, et. seq.). The election shall be conducted in compliance
with the procedures established in Chapter 8 of the Seward City Code.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption. Copies of this resolution shall be posted in at least
three public places for at least 15 days prior to the election.
