CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO.84-8
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION TO
PROCEED WITH THE PURCHASE OF LOTS 10, 11 AND 12, BLOCK 1,
TERMINAL ADDITION, WITHOUT BENEFIT OF AN APPRAISAL
WHEREAS, the City
development of the Gateway
Addition; and
of Seward has been working toward the
Subdivision as a replat of the Terminal
WHEREAS, in order to complete the platting process, all owners
of land within the proposed subdivision must sign off on the new plat;
and
WHEREAS, there are two property owners other than the City of
Seward within the Terminal Addition (proposed Gateway Subdivision); and
WHEREAS, the City has offered Mr. Wilma Weber, the owner of
Lots 10, 11, and 12, Block 1, Terminal Addition, various options ranging
from a trade of her lots for equal square footage in the new subdivision
to outright purchase of her property; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Weber feels that it would be to her advantage to
accept the City's purchase price offer of $9,000; and
WHEREAS, City staff determined this to be a fair value to
offer for the land based on Borough assessment records and an analysis
of surrounding land values; and
WHEREAS, the City has previously appropriated funds sufficient
to cover the purchase of the property; and
WHEREAS, it is in the City's interest to acquire this property
and that of other private land owners in order to facilitate the devel-
opment and marketing in the proposed Gateway Subdivision;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is directed to proceed with the
arrangements for the purchase of Lots 10, 11, and 12, Block 1, TErminal
Addition, from Mr. Wilma Weber, for the sum of $9,000.
Section 2. The public interest would not be served by expend-
ing funds for a certified appraisal and accepts the values as determined
by the City Staff.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
