CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 95-141
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO SWENSON
CONSTRUCTION FOR COMPLETION OF INTERIOR WORK FOR
THE YOUTH CENTER AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS
WHEREAS, interior design for the new Youth Center facility to be located in the
Community Center has been completed; and
WHEREAS, Swenson Construction, Inc., was earlier awarded a contract for completion of
the exterior work; and
WHEREAS, Swenson has reviewed the plans for the proposed interior work and has
estimated that this work can be completed for $27,000; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to award the interior work to Swenson Construction,
Inc., in an effort to complete all owrk prior to the Christmas Holidays; and
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to waive bidding of the project and to add the award
of this contract to the agenda after the established agenda closing deadline in order to provide a safe
place for area youth to congregate and recreate during the upcoming holiday vacation season;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a contract to Swenson
Construction, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $27,000 to complete the interior work at the
Community Center to accommodate the Seward Youth Center.
Section 2. The sum of $27,000 is hereby appropriated from the General Fund Fund Balance
designated for Youth Center Renovations, Account No. 101-0000-3041, to the Community Center
Renovations Fund, Contracted Services, Account No. 307-3070-5390.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 27th
day of November, 1995.
