RESOLUTION NO. 85-24
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT
FOR CLEARING OF TRANSMISSION LINE EASEMENTS WITHOUT THE
FULL UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN
SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, all of the required easements were not available to
the clearing contractors when the original contracts were awarded and
executed; and
WHEREAS, approximately ten acres of land remains to be cleared
at various locations along the transmission line; and
WHEREAS, the construction contractor requires cleared
easements to allow his construction activities to proceed uninterrupted;
and
WHEREAS, full utilization of the bid procedures set forth in
Section 10-8 of the City Code would be costly and time consuming and
would produce the same results as the informal solicitation of sealed
proposals;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award a
contract to a competitively selected local firm in the amount
not-to-exceed $18,100.00 for the clearing of approximately 10 acres of
easements along the Seward transmission line.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
