RESOLUTION NO. 85-27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT TO GENERAL TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC
FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TELEPHONE SYSTEM WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION OF THE
BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City's current telephone system rented from
General Telephone & Electric (GTE) is rapidly approaching capacity; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of a telephone system will result in
substantial operational savings to the City; and
WHEREAS, proposals were solicited and received for the
purchase of a new system; and
WHEREAS, GTE submitted the least expensive proposal while
meeting the City's telephone needs; and
WHEREAS, the recommended
inexpensively expanded as needed;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The public interest would best be served by not
fully utilizing the bid procedure set forth in Section 10-8 of the City
Code for the purchase of a telephone system.
