RESOLUTION NO. 84-18
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE
OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE SEWARD PUBLIC SAFETY
FACILITIES EMERGENCY POWER SYSTEM WITHOUT FULL UTILIZATION
OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated funds in the FY84
budget for the purchase and installation of special equipment to provide
emergency electrical power for the Fire Hall and the City/Police Build-
ing; and
WHEREAS, the special electrical equipment required to make the
system operable can be ordered only through electrical suppliers and
distributors; and
WHEREAS, five such suppliers who have had previous satisfac-
tory dealings with the City have been contacted and asked for price
quotes on the needed electrical equipment; and
WHEREAS, Energy Control Systems, Inc. submitted the lowest
price quote of $6,365.00;
WHEREAS, the cost of advertising and administering a public
bid for this equipment would more than offset any potential savings to
the City in reduced prices for the equipment; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Council finds that it is in the best
interest of the City of Seward to forego the public bid procedures as
set forth in Section 10-8 of the City Code for the purchase of the above
cited electrical equipment.

Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to issue a purchase

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
