RESOLUTION NO.84-28
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO THE SEWARD
GENERAL HOSPITAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEVELOPING A MASTER
PLAN FOR SEWARD AND TO OBTAIN A CERTIFICATE OF NEED
WHEREAS, the City of Seward owns the Seward General Hospital
facility; and
WHEREAS, an inventory and evaluation report on the hospital
was performed in 1982 by ECI-Hyer Architects and Planners under contract
to the State Department of Health and Social Services; and
WHEREAS, this report recommended a detailed planning study to
produce a long-range health facilities master plan based upon anticipat-
ed community health care needs and the construction of a replacement
facility to house the hospital's acute care functions, and remodel/
renovate the existing building for use as a support facility to Seward
General Hospital and possibly Wesleyan Nursing Home; and
WHEREAS, the detailed planning study and application for a
Certificate of Need for the replacement facility and existing building
renovation can be accomplished for an estimated $25,000; and
WHEREAS, Seward General Hospital is high on the State's
priority list for replacement and the planning study will help maintain
Seward's priority; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Seward General Hospital has
requested the City of Seward's assistance in funding the planning study;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $25,000 is hereby appropriated from the
General Fund-Fund Balance Account No. 101-000-271-00-00 to the General
Government Service Account No. 101-118-518-35-61 for the purpose of
providing funds to Seward General Hospital for a detailed health plan-
ning study for Seward and application for a Certificate of Need for
replacement/renovation of the Seward General Hospital facility.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
