RESOLUTION NO. 95-149
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE
PURCHASE OF A PUMPER TRUCK AND RESCUE VEHICLE FOR
THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CONTINGENT UPON COUNCIL APPROVAL
OF A FINANCING PACKAGE FOR THE VEHICLES
WHEREAS, on September 25, 1995, the City Council approved Resolution No. 95-111,
authorizing the City to request bids for a new pumper truck and rescue vehicle; and
WHEREAS, a request for bids was issued in accordance with the procedures set forth in the
City Code; and
WHEREAS, three vendors submitted bids, with only one vendor, KME, submitting a bid
for each of the two vehicles; and
WHEREAS, Kovatch Mobile Equipment (KME) also offered a one percent discount of the
gross purchase if it were awarded the contract for both vehicles; and
WHEREAS, KME's bid was the low bid for both vehicles; and
WHEREAS, in order to better meet the present and future needs of the Fire Department, it
is the desire of the department to add and delete items on both vehicles while still staying within the
budget set for their purchase; and
WHEREAS, it is understood that final authority to purchase the vehicles is contingent upon
later City Council approval of a financing package for the purchase;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase a Class Three 1500 gallon
pumper and a heavy duty rescue vehicle from Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corporation for the total
sum of $396,455.40, contingent upon City Council approval of a financing package for the purchase
of the vehicles.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the city of Seward, Alaska, this 11 th
day of December, 1995.
