RESOLUTION NO. 83-29
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO INTERNATIONAL BUILDING SUPPLIES,
INC. FOR MATERIALS TO COMPLETE A SILVER SALMON DERBY ACTIVITIES
AND STORAGE BUILDING IN THE SEWARD SMALL BOAT HARBOR WITHOUT FULL
UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURE SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE
SEWARD CITY CODE.
WHEREAS, a need has been demonstrated for a building which could
serve to support Silver Salmon Derby Activities and provide an enclosed
facility for much needed storage space for City equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Building Trades Department of the Alaska Vocational
Technical Center has offered to construct a 24 foot by 30 foot building
for this purpose at no labor cost to the City; and
WHEREAS, material estimates were obtained by the Building Trades
Department from area building supply firms; and
WHEREAS, International Building Supplies, Inc. provided the lowest
quotation; and
WHEREAS, the Building Trades Department will be going into summer
recess on June 26, 1983 until September 1983; and
WHEREAS, this building must be completed prior to the 1983 Silver
Salmon Derby, therefore making it impractical to meet the requirements of
Section 10-8 of the Seward City Code;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 10-8 (g) of the Seward City
Code, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest to waive
the bidding procedures outlined in Section 10-8 of the Code for the pur-
chase of materials for the Salmon Derby Activities and Storage Building.
Section 2. The City Administration is hereby authorized to sole-source
purchase building materials from International Building Supplies, Inc. in an
amount not to exceed $7,200.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEWARD,
