CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-51
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, REQUESTING FUNDING AND A TRANSFER
OF RESPONSIBILITIES FROM THE KENAI PENINSULA BOROUGH
TO THE CITY OF SEWARD FOR THE SEWARD
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE
WHEREAS, Alaska statutes indicate that Community Comprehensive
Plans, of which the City of Seward has not had an update since 1967, are
to be reviewed and updated as necessary two years; and
WHEREAS, as a result of the new shipyard, prison facility,
coal export project, and barge line, the City of Seward is on the brink
of significant growth, the impact of which can only be dealt with
through proper community planning; and
WHEREAS,

WHEREAS, no other community has expressed an interest in
proceeding with planning at this time, the City of Seward is ready and
able to assume the task of completing an update of the Seward Comprehen-
sive Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is requested to
allocate $50,000 to the City of Seward for the purpose of updating the
Seward Comprehensive Plan.
Section 2. The Kenai Peninsula Borough is further requested
to enter into a Transfer of Responsibilities Agreement in order that the
City of Seward can assume the responsibility for completing the Seward
Comprehensive Plan Update.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
