CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 84-70
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CORRUGATED
METAL PIPE FOR THE DAIRY HILL UTILITY EXPANSION WITHOUT
FULL UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES SET FORTH IN
SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, construction of the Dairy Hill utility expansion is
scheduled to begin soon after award of a construction contract in early
July; and
WHEREAS, it is in the City's best interest to purchase major
materials prior to award of the construction contract; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering Department was unable to order the
corrugated metal pipe for drainage culverts when other pipe materials
were ordered in May because the final design had not been completed; and
WHEREAS, ARMCO ALASKA is the only manufacturer of CMP in the
State of Alaska;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. It is in the best interest of the City not to go
to public bid for the purchase of corrugated metal pipe for the Dairy
Hill utility expansion project.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a
purchase order to ARMCO ALASKA for the purchase of said pipe in an
amount not to exceed $6,127.99.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
