RESOLUTION NO. 84-71
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A BASKETBALL COURT
AND CHILDRENS' PARK
WHEREAS, the youth of Seward are currently without an outdoor
basketball court in the downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the City has determined that a half-court facility
can be located adjacent to the present Teen Center; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has determined
that such a facility can be constructed for the sum of $4,200; and
WHEREAS, a Childrens' Park has been proposed for the area
adj acent to, and directly south of, the North Pacific Rim Housing
Project; and
WHEREAS, City property is available for such use; and
WHEREAS, North Pacific Rim has offered to provide playground
equipment and wood chips for use in the facility; and
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department has determined
that the facility can be completed for the sum of $5,000 to cover
materials, site preparation and labor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. The sum of $4,200 be appropriated from the General
Fund-Fund Balance Account 101-000-271-00-00 to the Basketball Court
Proj ect Account 296-000-368-04-00 for the purpose of constructing a
basketball half-court.
Section 2. The sum of $5,000 be appropriated from the General
Fund-Fund Balance Account 101-000-271-00-00 to the Childrens' Park
Project Account 297-000-368-04-00 for the purpose of constructing a
Childrens' Park adjacent to the North Pacific Rim Housing development.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect July 1, 1984.
