CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 83-49
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CEDAR
UTILITY POLES AND ASSOCIATED CROSSARMS WITHOUT FULL
UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES AS SET FORTH IN
SECTION 10-8 OF THE SEWARD CITY CODE
WHEREAS, The City of Seward is in need of utility poles and
associated crossarms for further expansion and replacement of its
electrical system; and
WHEREAS, the City Electric Department has solicited price
quotations from past vendors of utility poles; and
WHEREAS, complying with the bidding procedures of Section 10-8
of the Seward City Code would be time consuming and more costly to the
City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 10-8eg) of the Seward
City Code, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest not
to go to public bid for the purchase of utility poles and associated
crossarms,
Section 2, The City administration is hereby authorized to
execute a sole source contract with McFarland-Cascade for utility poles
and associated crossarms in an amount not to exceed $43,000.
Section 3, This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption,
