CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 83-52
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE LEASE OF PROPERTY FROM THE
ALASKA RAILROAD FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF A UTILITY POLEYARD
WHEREAS, the City of Seward has for the past five years been system-
atically working toward the development of a Greenbelt Park along the
beach; and
WHEREAS, the Electric Utility pole storage area on the beach is in
direct conflict with the development of the Greenbelt; and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate minimum pole handling, an ideal
site location for the pole yard would be in the industrial area near the
railroad tracks; and
WHEREAS, the Alaska Railroad has agreed to lease the City of Seward
a one acre site immediately adjacent to the tracks at the north end of
the Seward Terminal Reserve.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section l. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a lease
agreement with the Alaska Railroad foa a utility pole yard site, based
on fair market rental values.
Section 2. This resolution takes effect on September 8, 1983.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Counicl of the City of Seward,
Alaska, this 8th day of August , 1983.
