CITY OF SEWARD, ALASKA
RESOLUTION NO. 83-82
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEWARD, ALASKA, AUTHORIZING THE INSPECTION OF THE SHIPLIFT
FABRICATION IN JAPAN WITHOUT UTILIZATION OF THE BID PROCEDURES
SET FORTH IN SECTION 10-8 OF THE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council has awarded a contract to Crowley
Constructors for the fabrication and installation of the Marine Indus-
trial Center ship1ift; and
WHEREAS, such ship1ift must be inspected during construction
by Lloyd's Registry of Shipping in order to receive a certificate
allowing the lift to move their insured hulls; and
WHEREAS, Lloyd's is the premier hull insurer in the world and
such certificate is deemed necessary for a successful commercial opera-
tion;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEWARD, ALASKA, that:
Section 1. In accordance with Section 10-8 (g) of the Seward
City Code, the City Council finds that it is in the public interest to
waive the bidding procedures as outlined in said section for the pur-
chase of necessary platform inspections.
Section 2. The City Administration is authorized to purchase
such inspection services from Lloyd's in an amount not to exceed Eleven
Thousand Dollars ($11,000).
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its adoption.
